AMD at the Glen - Marc Goossens Notes

CitiFinancial Racing Watkins Glen Advance

CITIFINANCIAL RACING WATKINS GLEN NOTES-
CitiFinancial Racing will sponsor two entries for this weekend’s NASCAR events at Watkins Glen International. Stephen Leicht will be behind the wheel of the No. 90 CitiFinancial Ford for the NASCAR Busch Series Zippo 200. Road course racing specialist, Marc Goossens will pilot the No. 90 CitiFinancial Ford for Sunday’s NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series AMD at the Glen.

IN PREPARATION: Robert Yates Racing elected to test with Stephen Leicht and Marc Goossens at VIR to prepare for this weekend. This week Leicht is attending the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Racing in Phoenix, Ariz. to continue to enhance and develop his road course racing skills.

LEICHT’S QUOTES:
“I’ve never competed in a road course event, but I have been preparing like crazy. This week I’ll be at the Bondurant school of Racing and last week I followed Marc (Goossens) around at VIR and I felt like he taught me a lot. I would say the hardest thing to learn is the process of braking and shifting at the same time. It requires a lot of finesse to master the art of road course racing and this weekend will definitely be a learning experience for me and one I’m looking forward to.”

FORMER EXPERIENCE: Goossens has been road course racing for over 10 years. He made his NASCAR Busch Series debut at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez where he started sixth and finished ninth for CitiFinancial Racing. Goossens has also competed in the Rolex 24 hours of Daytona and the 12 hours of Sebring.

GOOSSENS QUOTES:
“I’m very excited about making my NEXTEL Cup debut for this weekend’s race at Watkins Glen. When the opportunity came up with CitiFinancial and Robert Yates Racing to run another race for them I didn’t have to think twice about it. We had a very successful NASCAR Busch Series race in Mexico earlier this year and I’m looking forward to repeating that this weekend. I have always admired NASCAR racing and I would love to become more involved in it.”

CHASSIS INFORMATION- Crew chief Raymond Fox has selected chassis No. 71 for this weekend’s AMD at the Glen. This is a brand new car that Goossens tested at VIR last week. Jerry Pitts, crew chief of the No. 90 CitiFinancial NASCAR Busch Series team will unload chassis No. B3. This is the same car that Goossens raced to a ninth-place finish in Mexico City.
