Aaron’s 499 - Elliott Sadler Notes

ELLIOTT SADLER, M&M’S® RACING
TALLADEGA SUPERSPEEDWAY
APRIL 30, 2006

SADLER, M&M’S FIND REASON TO CELEBRATE IN TALLADEGA

CHARLOTTE, NC (April 25, 2006) – This weekend the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series travels to the Talladega Superspeedway for Sunday’s Aaron’s 499. For M&M’S® driver Elliott Sadler, Sunday is not just another race day. In fact, Sadler will celebrate his 31st birthday on Sunday, April 30.

For Sadler, a win at Talladega would top his birthday wish list. But the icing on the cake would be a repeat qualifying effort from the last visit the M&M’S Team made to the 2.66-mile speedway, when Sadler captured his second career pole at Talladega.

Quoting M&M’S Driver Elliott Sadler:

“I’ve talked a lot the past couple about our struggles with qualifying and we really hope they end at Talladega. We’ve had a lot of good qualifying runs here. I think I’ve only started outside the top-10 once since joining RYR. We grabbed the pole the last race we were here (10/05). It just gives your team a big shot of momentum heading into the weekend.”

“You want to try to start up front, try to stay out of the middle of that 43 car pack. I always say it’s hard to ask 43 people human beings to be perfect for three and a half hours, especially when you are running that close. Just because you start up front doesn’t mean you’re safe, we proved that last October, but are your chances better? I definitely think so. We had amazing cars here last year, great horsepower from Doug Yates and cars that could pass and run up front.”

“This team needs a boost right now, some good luck to come our way for a change. My guys haven’t let down all year. They are working as hard as they ever have but we’ve had a couple of bad finishes here lately, things that weren’t in our control and now we’re heading to a place where a lot of times you don’t have a lot of control. We just want to qualify well and see the checkered flag. If we can do that, it should be a pretty good day.”
