KASEY KAHNE QUOTES
“I’m really looking forward to Texas. It’s right at the top of my list of favorite tracks. Our No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger has performed well at Texas in the past and we expect the same this weekend. Kenny (Francis, team director) and the team have given me great race cars this year.

“We didn’t get the finish we wanted to at Martinsville, but it was the best car I’ve had at that track. I’ve been close at Texas. We’re certainly going to Texas with the confidence our Evernham Motorsports race car is capable of running up front and winning the race.”

STATS & FACTS

KASEY KAHNE AT TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY
Sunday’s race marks Kahne’s fourth NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series start at Texas Motor Speedway. In his three previous starts, Kahne has collected one top five, one top 10, led 148 laps and earned $532,435.

Kahne leads all active drivers with more than two starts at Texas with a 7.0 starting average in three races there.

Kahne picked up his best start and finish at Texas in the spring race in 2004. He started third and took the checkered flag in second place after leading 148 laps.

Last year Kahne was plagued by engine woes at Texas, relegating him to 42nd- (spring) and 35th-place (fall) finishes.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE A YEAR MAKES
Kahne is currently ranked fourth in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series point standings, and just six races in to the 2006 season he has collected five top-15 finishes. This time last year he had collected three top-15 finishes and was ranked 18th in the point standings.

KAHNE CHARGES TO WIN AT ATLANTA
Kahne collected his second-career victory in the Golden Corral 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The win was the first for Dodge at Atlanta in 29 years.

His win was the eighth Nextel Cup Series win for Evernham Motorsports. The organization has now won at least one race each year since it’s inception in 2001.
