Clint Bowyer
No. 07 Jack Daniel’s Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS
Event Preview Fact Sheet

Event/Date: Samsung/Radio Shack 500 – April 9, 2006
Venue: Texas Motor Speedway – Ft. Worth, Texas

NOTES:

  • This Week’s Race Car at Texas Motor Speedway … Clint Bowyer will pilot Chassis No. 152 from the Richard Childress Racing (RCR) stable. Built new for 2005, this is the same Jack Daniel’s Chevrolet Dave Blaney raced last fall at Dover and Texas. Since then, with the exception of the chassis, the car has been completely stripped and rebuilt from the ground up. Bowyer raced the same car to 14th-and 15th-place finishes at California and Las Vegas, respectively. Back in Black … After sporting a DIRECTV paint scheme last week at Martinsville, Bowyer’s No. 07 Chevy will return to its traditional black and white Jack Daniel’s paint scheme this weekend at TMS.
  • Never Give Up. Never, Never Give Up … After being collected in a lap two multi-car melee at Martinsville, and finishing four laps down, Bowyer is still 16th in the NEXTEL Cup Series point standings. The Emporia, Kan., native is just 80 points out of the top 10 and 91 markers behind ninth-place Elliott Sadler.
  • Head of the Class … Bowyer continues to lead the Raybestos Rookie of the Year battle holding a five point advantage over J.J. Yeley. He also leads Denny Hamlin by a seven point margin, Reed Sorenson by eight, Martin Truex Jr. by nine, David Stremme by 20 and Brent Sherman by 30.
  • In the Loop … According to NASCAR’s loop data statistics, Bowyer leads all NEXTEL Cup Series drivers with 621 green flag passes for position in 2006.
  • Keep Doubling Up … Bowyer will once again return to the seat of RCR’s No. 2 ACDelco Chevrolet on Saturday, April 8 in the O’Reilly 300 NASCAR Busch Series (NBS) race. The race will be televised live on FOX beginning at 3 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) and also broadcast live on the Performance Racing Network (PRN) and XM Satellite Radio. Bowyer is currently fourth in the NBS championship battle, 161 points behind leader and teammate Kevin Harvick.
  • Meet the Driver … On behalf of Chevrolet, Bowyer will appear at Chevy Thunder at Sundance Square, in the heart of downtown Ft. Worth, Friday, April 7 from 6 – 8 p.m. Chevy Thunder is a free family festival featuring concerts, interactive games, show cars and a Team Chevy driver autograph session. Bowyer’s RCR teammates Jeff Burton and Kevin Harvick are also scheduled to be on hand. For more information log on to www.chevythunderdays.com.
  • Do You Have Any Experience … Bowyer will appear at the Jack Daniel’s Experience, Sunday, April 9 from 10 – 10:15 a.m. The Jack Daniel’s Experience is a 53-foot tractor trailer filled with artifacts, state-of-the art video monitors, sound system and graphics to give race fans a taste of Lynchburg, Tenn., and the Distillery. The Jack Daniel’s Experience will be located on speedway grounds outside of turn 4.
  • Up to Speed … The Samsung/Radio Shack 500 from Texas Motor Speedway will take the green flag Sunday, April 9 at 2 p.m. EDT and will be telecast live on FOX. The event will also be broadcast live on PRN and XM Satellite Radio. Qualifying for the seventh of 36 races on the 2006 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series tour will air live on SPEED, PRN and XM Satellite Radio Friday, April 7 at 4:30 p.m. EDT.

    CLINT BOWYER QUOTES:

You’ve got some laps at Texas and a couple of pretty decent finishes in the Busch car. How do you feel about going to Texas with the Cup car?
“I’m looking forward to it, especially after the last couple of weeks. I’m glad to be getting back to a little more familiar territory where our car has been running really well. The Jack Daniel’s Chevrolet has been good, we just have to learn from our mistakes over these last few races and put the lessons we’ve learned to good use on these tracks that are a little more familiar to me. I think our car will be fast and I think we can get back inside the top 10 where we need to be.”

Texas is a fast race track. Do you like racing at those kinds of speeds?
“Yeah and we’ve really got a good program right now. Our intermediate program, body-wise and engine-wise, things like that are really good. Our cars were fast at California, Las Vegas and Atlanta so I’m looking forward to getting to Texas.”

You’ll run both the Busch race and the Cup race at Texas. By the time you get to Sunday, you’ll already have 300\- 400 laps on the race track. Is all that track time going to help you?
“Absolutely. That’s why I’m running that Busch car all season. The ACDelco Chevrolet has been strong at times. We’ve got a whole new crew on that side and we’re all trying to gel and get everything working good. We had a really good test last week in Richmond. With the testing policy the way it is, you don’t have that day of just going and working with one another – learning each other’s language. That was a good two-day test for us. We got a chance to work closely with each other. Gil (Martin) came and worked along side Dan (Deeringhoff), my crew chief on the Busch side. That gave Dan a chance to work closely with Gil on the program I’m used to and I think that deal will pick up a little bit and help me even more on Sunday.”

RCR has three equally competitive race teams. Will you Jeff (Burton) and Kevin (Harvick) spend time together on Saturday night talking and helping each other get ready for Sunday?
“I’ve been pulling off these guys a lot. I use them as much as I can wherever we are. I’m fortunate enough to have good teammates that I can trust to help me out. I’ve also got a veteran crew chief in Gil Martin. You have to use those resources to your advantage to be successful at a track like Texas.”
