Chevy Rock & Roll 400 - Sterling Marlin Notes

Marlin Ready To Roll in Richmond with New Crew Chief

RICHMOND, Va. (Sept. 5, 2006)— Sterling Marlin and Richard “Slugger” Labbe will team up for this first time in this weekend’s Chevy Rock & Roll 400 at Richmond International Raceway.

MB2 Motorsports recently announced that Labbe will take over crew chief duties for the No. 14 Chevrolet on an interim basis. Labbe was hired two weeks ago when he became available to the organization

“Slugger is a great crew chief and has a good track record,” said Marlin. “I’m excited about working with him and seeing what kind of positive results we can produce.

“I know we have what it takes to be successful—good, hardworking people and good equipment—we just have to figure out a way to make it come together at the same time.”

Marlin’s posted a top-10 result in the spring event at Richmond when he drove the Waste Management Chevrolet from a 32nd-place start to a ninth-place finish.

“I like racing at Richmond so this should be a good weekend for the team,” said Marlin. “We had a great race there in the spring and managed it from a terrible starting spot. The guys did a great job making adjustments I was able to drive to the front.”

Marlin continued, “I’m hopeful we can start up front in the Waste Management Chevy this weekend and when the checkered flag falls, we’ll be running with the lead pack.”

Saturday night's (Sept. 9) NEXTEL Cup event will be broadcast live on TNT beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
