NOTES:

  • This Week’s Race Car at Richmond International Raceway … Clint Bowyer will pilot Chassis No. 141 from the Richard Childress Racing (RCR) stable. This is the same car Bowyer made his NEXTEL Cup debut with last April at Phoenix and raced to a fifth-place finish two weeks ago at the same track. Dave Blaney also raced the car last May at Richmond, at both races at New Hampshire, last June at Pocono and last October at Martinsville.
  • The Chameleon … Bowyer’s No. 07 Chevy will feature a new look this weekend to highlight Prilosec OTC’s sponsorship of RCR. Prilosec OTC, marketed exclusively by Procter & Gamble, is available in food, drug, mass-retail, and club stores in the U.S. Prilosec OTC is available over-the-counter for the treatment of frequent heartburn, with one pill taken every day for 14 days and is the No. 1 selling over-the-counter heartburn medication. CLINT BOWYER QUOTES:

You hear so many people talk about how much they love places like Richmond and Bristol. Is it the same for you?
“Absolutely. Richmond is the perfect race track. It’s the perfect size. Racing at night at Richmond is always a lot of fun. After testing for two days in the Cup car and two days in the Busch car, I’ve definitely got plenty of track time going into this weekend. It was a long two days. I think we tested from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. It felt like the 24 hours of Richmond but I’m looking forward to the race. We had a really good test in both cars so hopefully we can carry some of the momentum from the top-five we had at Phoenix over to Richmond.”

Is Richmond a place where chances are you’re not going to come out of there without a few scratches but at the same time, you’re working hard not to beat and bang too much?
“Usually, the guy who wins has a clean car and all four fenders are on it. Nine times out of 10, that’s the case in the Cup Series. It’s hard to stay out of trouble and keep all four fenders intact. Even at a short track like Richmond, aerodynamics is crucial. You wouldn’t think so but I know first hand. I ripped my right-front fender off during the Busch race last year that everyone thought we had wrapped up. It wasn’t so much the case after that.”
