JEREMY MAYFIELD QUOTES
On Racing At Pocono- “There’s no question we’re looking forward to this weekend. Pocono has been a great track for me. We’ve had our share of problems this year with the new program, but things are coming together. We didn’t have the finishes we expected the last two races, but the potential was there. We led laps last week. We ran in the top-10. There’s more work to be done. We have to continue to step it up. There’s plenty of confidence on the No. 19 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger team we can do that at Pocono.”
On The Season So Far- “I’m not frustrated about the points anymore. I’ve over that. I’ve crossed the hump on being frustrated. It’s been a weird year for me. It’s been terrible. If you keep hammering, you get tough. It’s like ‘bring it on. Is that all you’ve got?’ That’s our attitude right now. “
STATS & FACTS
JEREMY MAYFIELD AT POCONO RACEWAY
Two-Time Winner at Pocono. Mayfield has two wins at Pocono Raceway, one of the two being his first career NEXTEL Cup win in the 1998 Pocono 500. His best finish since then was a second in his Dodge Dealers UAW Dodge Charger in the 2004 Pocono 500. Mayfield hopes to better that finish by one position in this weekend’s Pocono 500.
Experience pays. Mayfield’s 23 starts at the Pocono Raceway are the third-most of the Dodge drivers, next to Kyle Petty and Bobby Labonte
Flashback: 2000 Pocono 500- Mayfield edges Earnhardt for the win. The legendary Dale Earnhardt Sr. takes the white flag as the leader with Mayfield running second. Leading through turns one and two, Earnhardt sets up for three. Mayfield drives deep into the corner, moves onto Earnhardt’s bumper and gives a nudge. Earnhardt is forced to lift. Mayfield darts inside and emerges from the final turn with the lead. Mayfield takes the win in what has become one of the most talked-about finishes in Pocono history.
Mayfield has nine top-10 and four top-five finishes at the 2.5-mile Pennsylvania tri-oval.
MAYFIELD IN SELECT COMPANY
Mayfield is one of only seven drivers to make the Chase for the Championship field both years.
