Lenox Industrial Tools 300 - Ford Qualifying Quotes
MATT KENSETH – No. 17 DeWalt Fusion (qualified 24th) – “We didn’t run good today, really all day. It was the same that we ran in practice.” HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THIS TRACK? “It’s okay. There’s good things and bad things about it, I guess. It’s not my favorite, but we seem to do okay here.”
DALE JARRETT – No. 88 UPS Fusion (qualified 32nd) – YOU QUALIFIED WHERE YOU PRACTICED. IS THIS A TOUGH TRACK TO PICK UP SPEED? “It’s really hard to back it up. I slowed down just a little bit from practice, and I was just a lot freer than what I had been in practice. We fought too tight in the center, and we fixed that and got too loose off. Yeah, it is hard to pick up. The track sits here and gets hotter and hotter and that only means loss of grip. We kind of felt that we were planning for that a little bit, we just didn’t give it quite enough. But, yeah, this is a tough place to pick up.” HERE, A SMALL FRACTION OF TIME CAN MEAN A BIG DIFFERENCE ON THE TRACK… “Yeah, that’s the thing – you don’t want to give up anything because things are so tight here and if you slip just a little bit you go way back. The car’s a little better than what we have been with this car, the couple of races we’ve run it this year, so maybe tomorrow’s practice will give us some hope for Sunday.”
CARL EDWARDS – No. 99 Office Depot Fusion (qualified 17th) – “We taped it a little more and tightened it up, but we just didn’t get it enough to make it up for the track being a little more slippery. It’s fun. I had a good time running around there. I’m getting more comfortable at this place, and I’m having a little more fun running around it, and that was a good lap for me, and hopefully it holds up for a top 15 and maybe 18 or something. And I feel like we’ve got the best race car we’ve ever come here with.” DO YOU LIKE THE HIGH BANKS OR THE LOW BANKS? “I like the higher-banked tracks a little bit, but I’m having fun here. I get to run the Modifieds and the Busch car and the Cup car all here, and I think that the extra laps are helping me. That Modified, man, it’s just so much fun. That kind of rekindled my love for this place. I’m having fun with it.” HOW WOULD DEFINE RUNNING THREE RACES HERE? “It is fun, man. I’ve come here a bunch, and I’ve always seen the Modifieds parked up there and watched the race, it was like, ‘Man, I’d love to race one of those.’ So now I’m excited a I get to do it.”
ELLIOTT SADLER – M&M’s Fusion (qualified 18th) – “First lap I was just a little bit too loose, and finally it came in and the second lap was pretty good. We made a lot of changes between practice and qualifying and I think it paid off in our favor. We were only like 28th-fastest in practice, made a lot of changes and made it better. That should be somewhere in the top 20, 21st, so that’s good for us right now. We’re pretty happy with that.”
MARK MARTIN – No. 6 AAA Fusion (qualified 13th) – “I think it’s going to race good, but it’s not going to qualify very good. But I’m really happy with the way the car feels, and I think it’ll race good.”
