Lenox Industrial Tools 300 - Bill Elliott Notes

Elliot Competes In Second Race Behind Wheel of No. 00 Burger King® Car At New Hampshire International Speedway

LOUDON, N.H. - Following the conclusion of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway test session today, Bill Elliott shifts his focus to race number two in the No. 00 BURGER KING NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series entry fielded by Michael Waltrip Racing at New Hampshire International Speedway.

"After we wrap up our Indy test today, we will turn our efforts to New Hampshire International Speedway,” Elliott said. “So far, we haven’t had much time on the track today due to weather. We didn’t make that many laps on Monday either because we didn’t get on track until nearly lunch time. Our goal is to use our time wisely and get some good quality time on track. Then we’ll cross the bridge for Loudon."

Elliott has one pole, two top-five and four top-10 finishes and his best finish is fourth (2003) in 18 starts at New Hampshire International Speedway. To help prepare for the race at the 1.058-mile oval, Elliott tested the No. 00 BURGER KING entry at The Milwaukee Mile last month.

"We did test at The Milwaukee Mile not long ago for Loudon," Elliott stated. "New Hampshire International Speedway is a track where I’ve had ups and downs. I have a pole there and I’ve run well there before."

New Hampshire International Speedway is a track that over the years Elliott has grown to like.

"Since they redid the track, it made it a lot better from a racing standpoint," Elliott said. "The first time I ran there I didn’t like the track, but the more I raced there I liked it. I got better at racing there and then the last few races I ran there, I really enjoyed it. On the flipside, it’s a hard track to pass on. It’s a place where you’ve really got to have the car handling well. That will be a true test for this No. 00 BURGER KING team when we go there."

Live pre-race coverage of the Lenox Industrial Tools 300 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series event at New Hampshire International Speedway on July 16th begins at 1:30 p.m. Eastern on TNT and will be broadcast by MRN Radio.
