Fresh off a season high finish of 19th at Bristol, Morgan-McClure Motorsports brings a bit of momentum back to the site of its last win, Martinsville Speedway. In 1998, Bobby Hamilton, in a Morgan-McClure Chevrolet led 378 laps to win from the pole in dominating fashion.

    Scott Wimmer Quotes:
“It’s always exciting going back to Martinsville. Its one of the great short tracks in NASCAR racing with a lot of history and a lot of tradition there. Coming off our first short track run at Bristol this year with a good top 20 run there, we are looking for better things to happen at Martinsville. With the way the team is progressing and the way things are going I definitely think we are capable of that.

We are going to go in there [Martinsville] with the same goals we had at Bristol: to finish the race and to get the best finish possible in our Aero Exhaust Chevy to get closer to the top 35 [position] in points.”

    Chris Carrier Quotes:
“Martinsville is a track of survival and track position. It has very tight corners so it is a place where you have to have a good chassis and good handling. You have to have good brakes and a smart driver to use the brakes appropriately as 500 laps is a long time in a 3400-pound car. The better handling cars will have an easier time with brakes because they spend more time going than stopping. I think Scott [Wimmer] will do well here as he is a very good short track driver.

We’ve run well at Martinsville in the past and had a good car there last year. We have a little bit of momentum over the last two or three races and things are starting to get better. We had a good finish at Bristol and we hope to build on it this week as well.”
