SCOTT RIGGS QUOTES:
“We want to go back to Michigan and have a good run this time in the Valvoline/Stanley Tools Dodge. I really like driving at Michigan and have had some success there in the past but we struggled with the handling in the spring. Rodney is confident that he has found out what the problem was and our team is very anxious to get back to Michigan and prove what we can do.”
RODNEY CHILDERS QUOTE:
“We are taking chassis 140 which was a new car before Indy. Scott liked that car a lot the first time he drove it. We are glad we got through Watkins Glen without losing too much because that track was not our specialty. However, some of our best tracks are coming up and we have some really good cars to take to them. We are going to push really hard in the upcoming races to try to get that first win. This Valvoline Evernham Racing team is really hungry right now and in sort of a safe zone in the points not having to worry about making the chase or falling out of the top 35.”
QUICK FACTS:
Riggs finished in the runner up position this time last year at the Nextel Cup race in Michigan, second only to the Evernham Motorsports No. 19 Dodge Charger.
Riggs has led in three of his five Cup starts at Michigan.
Riggs has never finished outside of the top-10 in his Busch Series career at Michigan International Speedway. His two finishes there are a fifth and sixth, coming in back-to-back years starting in 2002.
