Matt Kenseth led five times for 146 laps to win the WIX Filters Lap Leader of the Race Award at Las Vegas. This is the first time in 2006 that Kenseth has claimed the award.
Kenseth has led at least one lap in each of the three NEXTEL Cup Series races this season. He has led 13 times in three races for 214 laps.
Kenseth and his Roush Racing teammate Greg Biffle have combined to lead 315 of the 521 possible laps in the two most recent NEXTEL Cup races.
Kenseth finished a close second to Jimmie Johnson at Las Vegas. The official margin of victory was list at .045 seconds (about a half-car length). He has finished in the top-10 in the last four races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Kenseth trails Jimmie Johnson by 52 points in the UNOFFICIAL NEXTEL Cup Series championship standings.
