UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400 - Elliott Sadler Notes

SADLER, M&M’S® LOOK FOR TOP-10 EFFORT IN VEGAS

CHARLOTTE, NC (March 8, 2006) – The NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series moves west across the Mississippi for the second time in three weeks, this time stopping in “Sin City” at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Elliott Sadler, driver of the M&M’S® Ford Fusion, enjoyed a weekend off in his home state of Virginia but is ready to get back to work in this weekend’s UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400. Sadler and the M&M’S Team look to rebound after an “off” weekend at the California Speedway where they finished a disappointing 23rd. With two intermediate tracks followed by two short tracks ahead on the schedule, Sadler looks to solidify his top-10 points standing beginning this weekend in Vegas.

Quoting M&M’S Driver Elliott Sadler:
“We had a good test in Las Vegas in January, really felt comfortable with the new Fusion and how it ran. I think we thought we were 80 percent there but that we still had some work to do back at the shop. We need a strong race here this weekend to shake off a rough trip to California.”

“We have high expectations for our team this year, probably higher than they’ve been in past years. Our race in California was disappointing because we weren’t close to the level we know we need to run at. I know Tommy and I were scratching our heads after the race but you’ve got to put that weekend behind you.”

“At the beginning of the season, Tommy (Baldwin, crew chief) and I sat down and looked at the whole schedule last year race by race and looked at what we fought and what we didn’t fight, and what we were good at and what we’re not good at and we made out a game plan. We’re going to take the places that we run good and still try to run good there. We’re going to take the places where we saw ourselves struggle and try to work on them as much as we can. We didn’t have a great finish at Vegas last year but we qualified really well so we’re working on pulling the entire package together for this weekend’s race.”
