WIX FILTERS LAP LEADER NOTES FOR THE COCA-COLA 600 NASCAR NEXTEL CUP SERIES RACE AT LOWE’S MOTOR SPEEDWAY, MAY 28, 2006.
Kasey Kahne led seven times for 158 laps to win the WIX Filters Lap Leader of the Race Award in the Coca-Cola 600 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Kahne led the most laps for the first time this season and took the honor for the first time in 2006. He led the most laps for the fourth time in his career.
Kahne won the Coca-Cola 600, scoring his first win at Charlotte and fourth of his 84-race NEXTEL Cup career. Kahne won for the third time in 2006.
Kahne has now led 19 times in five races this season for a total of 348 laps. In 65 career superspeedway starts, Kahne has now led 1,204 laps in 28 races.
Kahne is now sixth in the NEXTEL Cup Series championship standings, a gain of two positions.
Greg Biffle leads Tony Stewart (5-3) in the WIX Filters Lap Leader standings.
