Ford 400 - Brian Vickers Notes

PREVIEW: BRIAN VICKERS (NO. 25 GMAC CHEVROLET)
VENUE: HOMESTEAD-MIAMI SPEEDWAY (1.5-MILE OVAL)
CIRCUIT: NASCAR NEXTEL CUP SERIES (RACE 36 OF 36)
EVENT: SUNDAY, NOV. 19, 2006 (267 LAPS, 400.5 MILES)

VICKERS MAKING FINAL START FOR HENDRICK: Brian Vickers will make his final start for Hendrick Motorsports Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Since joining Hendrick in 2003, Vickers has made 47 NASCAR Busch Series starts, capturing three wins, one pole position, 16 top-five finishes, 27 top-10s and the 2003 championship. At the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series level, he has made 112 starts in the No. 25 GMAC Chevrolet, earning one win, four pole positions, 10 top-fives and 23 top-10s.

'25' HAVING GOOD 'CHASE': Despite not being one of the 10 competing for this year's NEXTEL Cup title, Vickers and his No. 25 GMAC Racing team have accumulated 1,127 points since the Chase for the Championship began. It is the ninth-best total among all teams.

CHASSIS 393 FOR VICKERS: GMAC Racing will call upon Hendrick Motorsports Chassis No. 393 for this weekend's NEXTEL Cup season finale at Homestead. The car has seen action in only one event this year, debuting last month at Kansas Speedway where it qualified fourth and finished eighth.

BACK TO BUSCH: Vickers will drive a No. 57 Ore-Ida Chevrolet on Saturday at Homestead-Miami Speedway, marking his eighth Busch Series appearance of 2006. Vickers, the 2003 Busch Series champion, has earned two top-five finishes and four top-10s on the circuit this season.

HENDRICK AT HOMESTEAD: Homestead-Miami Speedway is the only race track on the NEXTEL Cup circuit where car owner Rick Hendrick has yet to win. It is also one of just two tracks where Hendrick Motorsports has not earned a pole position. The series began competing there once annually in 1999.

NEXT WIN WILL MARK 150: Hendrick Motorsports' next Cup Series victory will be the organization's 150th at NASCAR's highest level.

BRIAN VICKERS, DRIVER OF THE NO. 25 GMAC CHEVROLET: (ON HIS FINAL RACE WITH HENDRICK MOTORSPORTS.) "It's going to be bittersweet. There's a lot of personal connection for me at Hendrick Motorsports and a lot of emotion there. I'm still very close to Rick (Hendrick), his family and a lot of people at Hendrick Motorsports. It will definitely be an emotional race for me and I hope we can run well and go out on a high note."

VICKERS: (ON JIMMIE JOHNSON AND THE NO. 48 HENDRICK MOTORSPORTS TEAM LEADING THE STANDINGS WITH ONE RACE TO GO.) "They've been running incredibly well over the last handful of races. Anyone that counted them out in the early going should be kicking themselves. Throughout the course of the season, they've run well -- well enough to win a championship, that's for sure."

VICKERS: (CAN DRIVERS FEEL THE CHANGES ASSOCIATED WITH THE PROGRESSIVE BANKING AT HOMESTEAD?) "The progressive banking is very noticeable from inside the car. The faster you go, the more noticeable it is. You can feel every single one of those creases and seams and how they affect the balance of the car as you go up the banking."
