Kevin Harvick/No. 29 Hershey’s Chevrolet
Pepsi 400 Pre-Race Notes
CATCH IT: The Pepsi 400 from Daytona International Speedway will take the green flag Saturday, July 1st at 7:30 p.m. EST and will be telecast live on FOX. The event will also be broadcast live on MRN and XM Satellite Radio. Qualifying will air live on SPEED, MRN and XM Satellite Radio Friday, June 30th at 4:30 p.m. EST.
LAST WEEK: The No. 29 GM Goodwrench/Reese’s Chevrolet had to overcome some unfortunate incidents Sunday at the Dodge/Save Mart 350. After starting third, Harvick ran inside the top-10 for the first three-quarters of the event, even leading for five laps. With less than 30 laps remaining, he took the car down pit road for an unscheduled stop, after thinking a tire was down. The problem was a loose right-rear wheel, and it sent Harvick tumbling through the field from the top-10 to 33rd, one lap down to the leader Jeff Gordon. He earned the lap back on a late caution and worked his way back up to 16th position. On Lap 106, Harvick was black-flagged when race officials discovered that damage to the No. 29 car had caused its hood pins to come out. He restarted the race in 30th position with three laps to go. Harvick worked his way through the field once again and earned four positions in the closing laps to finish 24th. He remains in the top-10 of Cup Series points, falling two positions to tenth.
SPECIAL PAINT SCHEME: The Hershey’s Milk Chocolate brown will don the hood this weekend at Daytona International Speedway. The Hershey Milk Chocolate bar is one of five special paint schemes The Hershey Company will run throughout the 2006 season.
HERSHEY’S PIT CREW WILL MAKE AN APPEARANCE: The No. 29 Hershey’s pit crew will
make an appearance this Saturday from 4:30-5:00 p.m. at the No. 29 Reese’s/GM Goodwrench
souvenir hauler. The team will be on hand to meet fans and sign autographs. A limited number of
free posters and pictures will be handed out to fans.
HARVICK TO COOK S’MORES WITH FANS: Hershey’s driver Kevin Harvick and members of the Richard Childress Racing Team will light up the infield on Thursday, June 29, at Daytona with a S’mores campfire event. Celebrating this quintessential summertime snack, Hershey’s will distribute more than 2,000 S’mores kits complete with graham crackers, marshmallows and Hershey’s Milk Chocolate bars to fans staying in the infield to celebrate race week at Daytona International Speedway. Randomly selected kits will contain invitations to join Harvick and the Team for “s’more” fun around the campfire. Local Boy Scout Troops will get the campfire started; while Smoky the Bear looks on to ensure a safe party in the Fan Zone.
RUNNING IT: The No. 29 Reese’s/GM Goodwrench transporter will unload chassis No. 161 at Daytona International Speedway. This same chassis was in the Daytona 500 at the beginning of the season where Harvick finished 14th.
BEST OF THE BEST: Hershey crew members Jason Pulver and Josh Mick were each awarded $10,000 after winning the individual portion of the pit stop challenge at the Charlotte Bobcats Arena last month. Pulver and Mick were crowned the fastest front tire changers in the NEXTEL Cup Series and swept the competition by more than two tenths of a second.
DID YOU KNOW: Hershey makes 3.5 billion Hershey Milk Chocolate bars a year.
IT’S ALL ABOUT THE CUP: For NASCAR's biggest stars, it's all about the Cup. Now fans can chase the Cup, as well. Reese’s along with NASCAR.com have put together a fantasy racing game called “It’s All About The Cup.” More than 78,398 NASCAR fans are logging on each week for a chance to win great prizes presented by The Hershey Company. At the end of each weekly Race ("Week"), one (1) weekly prize ("Weekly Prize") will be awarded to the eligible participant
whose roster scores the highest for that Week ("Weekly Winners"). If there is a tie, the following methods will be used to determine the winners: Each week the participant will select from a drop
down box what position Kevin Harvick will finish in that race. Participants will also select the number of different lap leaders in that race. If there is a tie for the Weekly Winners, the first tiebreaker will be who correctly predicted Kevin Harvick's exact finishing position. If no one selects Kevin Harvick's exact finishing position, then any tie will be broken by the entrant whose prediction was closest to Kevin Harvick's exact final position. If there is still a tie, the next level of tiebreaker will be the participants' selection for number of different lap leaders in that race. If no one correctly selects the exact number of different lap leaders in that race, then any tie will be judged by who was closest to accurately predicting the number of different lap leaders in that race. If there is still a tie, the participant whose roster has the higher position in the overall game standing will win. If there is still a tie, the Weekly Prize will be divided evenly among tied participants. Please check out http://fantasy2.nascar.com/games/cbox/ for more information.

QUICK QUOTES:
Harvick on the handling of his car at the Daytona 500: “We had a great handling car at Daytona. We are going to bring the same car back. We didn’t take this car to Talladega, because it ran so good at the 500. I feel pretty good about going into Daytona with this car. It has been there already this season and handled great.”
Harvick on the difference between the Daytona 500 and the Pepsi 400: “Well it gets very hot and slick in July so you’re handling characteristics become tougher. We are shooting for the car to handle better and knock a little speed out of the car for some handling.”
NOTES:
Harvick will drive the No. 29 Chevrolet sponsored by The Hershey Company in 13 NEXTEL Cup Series events in 2006.
Harvick’s next Hershey’s sponsored race will take place at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on August 6th for the running of the Brickyard 400.
Harvick is currently 10th in the Nextel Cup point standings, 489 points behind first.
