Daytona 500
Greg Biffle
Team: No. 16 National Guard Ford Fusion
Crew Chief: Doug Richert
Chassis: RK-285 (Daytona 500); Last used: 2005 Bud Shootout, 2005 Pepsi 400
Biffle on racing at Daytona International Speedway:
“We tested two different cars at the Daytona test and feel pretty good about bringing this one back. Obviously a win in the Daytona 500 would be a career milestone but we just need to get the season off on the right foot like we did last year. We didn’t have the best luck last season in restrictor plate races, so if we can turn that around right off the bat, all the better. Last year we had five wins in the first 15 races and that’s what ultimately put us in a position to run for the championship. We are looking for another strong start to the season and nothing would be better for that than a solid top-10 or top-five finish in Daytona.”
Crew Chief Doug Richert on racing at Daytona International Speedway:
“We’re taking the same car we raced last year in the Bud Shootout and the Pepsi 400. We took it to Daytona for the test and we all felt it was the better car to take back for the 500. We’re going there with the goal to be a competitor for the win and start the season with a solid finish. This National Guard team has worked extremely hard in the off-season to get ready for a championship run in 2006 and we’re just ready to get started.”
