ELLIOTT SADLER QUOTES
“I feel good about the way we are running. We had a great run at Michigan and the No. 19 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger was awesome at Bristol. We didn’t get the finish we wanted at Bristol, but we had a top-five car. It’s cool to be that fast two weeks in a row. We will use the same Evernham .Motorsports chassis at California that we raced at Michigan.
“I still have a lot to learn about the Dodge Charger. It does not react to the same adjustments I’ve been used to the last seven or eight years. I’ve got to learn that as a driver and kind of feel my way through that. To come out of the box and get the first top-10 finish of the season for this team and run as well as we did at Bristol is very important to me and I think it was very important to those guys (No. 19 Dodge Charger team). Right now I think everybody is excited at Evernham Motorsports and we’re looking forward to building a good foundation, building a good relationship with my guys and sponsors and moving along the rest of the year to get ready for the Daytona 500 next year.”
STATS & FACTS
ELLIOTT SADLER AT CALIFORNIA SPEEDWAY
This will be Elliott Sadler’s third start with the Evernham Motorsports’ No. 19 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger team.
The No. 19 team is bringing the same chassis to California that Sadler drove in his first start with the No. 19 team at Michigan. With it, Sadler qualified on the outside pole and finished 10th. It was the first top-10 finish of the season for the No. 19 Dodge Charger.
Last weekend in Bristol, Sadler posted a top-10 qualifying run for the second weekend in a row and ran solidly in the top-10 for the majority of the race. Unfortunately, a late-race crash not of his own making would keep him from a solid finish.
Sadler has posted one win at the California Speedway, which came in the 2004 Pop Secret 500. Sadler led 59 laps that day on the way to his third-career NEXTEL Cup series win.
Sadler has a 90.1 percent lap completion rate at California Speedway.
