Competitive Edge's Mike Garvey Gets Ready for His Kind of Race
Mike Garvey, Competitive Edge Motorsports (CEM) and the Marathon #51 American Spirit Motor Oil Chevrolet are ready and exited to roll at this week's NASCAR Nextel Cup Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. With 160,000 fans on their feet around a half mile of high banked concrete, this race is always non-stop action from start to finish.
Says Joe Auer, CEM team owner, "Preparation for this first short track event of the season includes a lot of modifications to the car for the rigors of Bristol. The guys in the shop have been busy dropping in different gearing, springs, oversize brake cooling ducts and all the other adjustments you need to go 500 miles of hard racing at this one-of-a-kind raceway. We're very pleased with our engine program this year and feel we'll have the power we need to run well."
Driver Mike Garvey can't wait for this weekend. "This is the type of track we like, we don't have to rely on aero, we just set them up and run!" Mike is well known as a short track ace in several racing series and this weekend will be an opportunity for his skills to really be put on display on behalf of the Marathon/CEM racing effort.
With the car ready, the driver set to go and the team prepared to support a strong effort, this weekend's event is a great breakthrough opportunity for the #51 Marathon American Spirit Motor Oil Chevy.
