Food City 500 - Brian Vickers Notes

BRIAN VICKERS NOTES & QUOTES

VICKERS 'DRIVEN TO WIN':
Brian Vickers will be the subject of The Biography Channel's "Driven to Win" on Wednesday, March 29 at 10 p.m. ET. The 30-minute show will offer viewers an up-close look at Vickers with personal interviews of friends and family and a visit to his hometown.

'25' SHOWS MARKED IMPROVEMENT:
Four races into the 2006 NEXTEL Cup season, Vickers and his GMAC Racing team rest 14th in the championship standings, just 15 points out of 10th. At this time last season, the No. 25 team sat 22nd in points, 114 markers from a top-10 position.

TOUGH CHOICE:
Four years ago, Vickers elected to skip his high school prom to compete in the March 23, 2002 NASCAR Busch Series race at Bristol. Vickers finished 14th in his debut at the half-mile bullring before graduating with honors from Trinity (N.C.) High School two months later.

BRIAN VICKERS TO GREET FANS AT BRISTOL:
Immediately following the completion of NEXTEL Cup final practice on Saturday, Brian Vickers will greet fans and sign autographs at the GMAC Racing souvenir hauler outside Bristol Motor Speedway.

BRIAN VICKERS, DRIVER OF THE NO. 25 GMAC CHEVROLETS:
(DO YOU APPROACH THE FIRST SHORT-TRACK EVENT OF THE SEASON ANY DIFFERENTLY THAN YOU WOULD A BIGGER TRACK?) "It's just one of 36 races that make up the NEXTEL Cup schedule. You want to run the best you can at each track, no matter the size. Short tracks, given their nature, represent a good place to get into trouble if you're not careful."

VICKERS:
(IS IT DIFFICULT TO HAVE BACK-TO-BACK SHORT-TRACK RACES ON THE SCHEDULE?) "I think it's great for the fans, but I also think it can create problems when it comes to a driver's temperament, not to mention all the potential work for the guys back in the shop whose responsibility it is to repair the damaged cars. It's not very often a car returns from a short track race without at least a dent or two on it."

VICKERS:
(DO THE SHORT TRACKS REPRESENT A GOOD OPPORTUNITY TO GAIN GROUND IN THE STANDINGS?) "I love Bristol. It's a fun, fast race track, but it's a beast for sure with 43 other cars out there. The racing can be rough and tough. You can make up a lot of ground in the standings because you're guaranteed some guys will get into trouble. At the same time, you have to be careful because you can just as easily be that guy."
