Nextel All-Star Challenge - Nextel Open: Ford Post-Race Quotes
ELLIOTT SADLER – No. 38 M&M’s Ford Fusion (Finished 12th) – NO LAPS ON THAT CAR SO IT’S A TOUGH WAY TO START A RACE. “Yeah, it was just tough. I really put my team in a bind yesterday wrecking the qualifying car and just drove over my head and made a mistake. We did learn a few things tonight for next week that we need to look at and maybe DJ will learn some things in the All-Star race, too, but at least we got to run a little bit tonight and run a little bit in race trim and see what we need when we come back. It’s just asking too much to get a car out there for the first time and try to go from 29th to the lead, but we learned some things and we’re gonna try to look at it in a positive way to come out next week and be good here at Charlotte.” HOW WAS THE TRACK SURFACE AND THE NEW TIRE? “With it raining before we got out there, the track was very, very slick and the top groove had not come in yet. It was a one-groove race track right there a little bit, but I think as you put more rubber on the track, the top groove will come in and create some good racing, but right there it’s pretty hard to race. When we get more rubber down it’ll be fine.”
KEN SCHRADER – No. 21 U.S. Air Force Ford Fusion (Finished 10th) – THE CAR WAS SMOKING AT THE START. WHAT WAS IT? “We had something in the engine, but they know what it is. It’s something about when it sits, but it wouldn’t run at the start. It kept getting better, but at the start is where we lost most of our positions. Still, I didn’t see where a lot of people pass anyway. The track just needs a lot of laps. It’s gonna be OK and the tires are gonna be fine, but we’ve got to get it to where the second lane gets better. It’s gonna be fine, but right now there’s too much difference between the bottom lane and the top lane.”
