Nextel All-Star Challenge - Elliott Sadler Notes

ELLIOTT SADLER, M&M’S® RACING
NEXTEL ALL-STAR CHALLENGE OPEN
MAY 20, 2006

SADLER, M&M’S® LOOK TO LOG EXTRA LAPS IN ALL-STAR EVENT

CHARLOTTE, NC (May 16, 2006) – Elliott Sadler hopes to be busy on Saturday evening at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, staying behind the wheel of the M&M’S® Ford Fusion for 120 laps.

Currently Sadler is scheduled to run in the NEXTEL All-Star Challenge Open, the pre-event to the night’s feature the NEXTEL All-Star Challenge. If Sadler and Team 38 hold the first spot at the completion of the Open’s 30 scheduled laps, Sadler will earn a transfer spot into the main event where he will run 90 laps for a chance at $1 million. Sadler finished second in all three segments of the All-Star event in 2005, falling just short to winner Mark Martin.

Quoting M&M’S Driver Elliott Sadler:
“It’s disappointing that we are not qualified for the All-Star Race for this weekend because it is a fun race not just for the fans but for the drivers as well. We had a great run in the All-Star race last year finished right behind Mark Martin who won. I had one of the best cars I’ve ever had at Charlotte. Doug Yates always builds us great engines for this race and it is a lot of fun out there.”

“But I’m looking forward to running the Open, trying to get a win there and then run in the All-Star race. Most importantly it gives us and all the teams a week off from points racing, a week to just go out there and race and maybe see what you have for the Coca-Cola 600. All the teams tested at this track a couple weeks ago on the new surface but I think we’ll get to see even more this weekend who the big players are going to be for next weekend’s race. We’re just going to go out there on Saturday night, no holding back, and try to win. My guys will give me a great car and hopefully I will be one of the guys to drive the most laps on Saturday night.”
