DAVID STREMME, No. 40 COORS LIGHT DODGE: KASEY KAHNE SAID OVER HIS RADIO THAT THE ACCIDENT WAS HIS FAULT. “Anybody in their right mind knows it’s his fault. I’m clear up next to him and I don’t know what he was doing. He just turned and we’re both into the wall. I couldn’t do nothing. I understand he’s faster and I’m going to the topside and let him by. I’m going to talk to him afterwards. It’s pretty blatant what happened.”

HAMLIN: “It was a really good night for us. We bounced back. We weren’t very good all day, really, and took advantage of a situation there at the end to take two tires and get some track position and it ended up working out good for us.” HOW BIG OF A GAMBLE WAS THAT? “It worked out good for us. It was a situation where it was a win-win situation. A lot of the guys behind us had damage from that last lap wreck and we were one of the last cars [on the lead lap] so it made sense for us to take two or even stay out. I think if we had stayed out we’d have been even better. We just got mixed up there at the end. Still it was a great run for us.” HOW CLOSE WERE YOU TO THE LATE WRECK WITH MARK MARTIN? “I didn’t see any of that, really. I didn’t now exactly what happened but I knew those guys got in trouble. I heard ‘Spin off two’ but I didn’t know what it was about.” YOU GAINED A FEW POINTS HERE WHEN IT LOOKED LIKE YOU WERE GOING TO LOSE. “It was big for us. It keeps us in the hunt. We just need some good runs here coming up. We just got to get back to that form where we were running good. We’re finishing better than what we’re running it seems like nowadays. We’ve just got to end the year on a strong note regardless of where we are in the points.”

MARTIN TRUEX JR., No. 1 BASS PRO SHOPS/TRACKER BOATS CHEVROLET: WHAT HAPPENED? “The wheel bearing failed in the right front or something. This is so unfortunate. We had a good car. I was having fun for once. It’s just unfortunate. We got caught speeding. We got right to the front that one time and got caught speeding leaving the pits and drove back up through there and was going to get some more of ‘em and then that happened. It’s just been that kind of year. The good thing is that we’ve been running good and Bono [Kevin Manion, crew chief] and all those guys are doing a really good job on the race cars. So we’ve got a lot to look forward to. It’s just tough to get through these days.”

CLINT BOWYER, No. 07 JACK DANIEL’S CHEVROLET: “The car was good all night. We had a top-10 car, no doubt. We got the side of the car torn off coming down pit road and then we had to come back and fix it. After that we just got collected in whatever happened in front of us. We just can’t catch a break. We can’t buy a break.”

J.J. YELEY, No. 18 VESICARE CHEVROLET: “I made a mistake early and got into the fence in the middle of 3 and 4 and that got us behind. I felt like we had a good enough car that we could have maintained a lap down. The way it turned out we’d have Lucky Dogged our way back to the front, barring that we could have dodged all the accidents like we did. The guys kept working on the car and they got the car where it was really good. It needed a little bit more speed, especially on the front end of a run. I’m just a little disappointed in some of the guys that were multiple, I guess more than two, laps down racing hard, especially with 10 laps to go not giving way. You had some cars that were wrecked still rolling around there and it cost me a position there at the line. The 42 checked up because there was a car on the apron shooting sparks and let the 21 and the 38 pass me. The 38 was for position so I’m a little bit disappointed. You hate to give up a position coming down for the checkered because everyone is checking-up. The thing is still in one piece and the guys in the fab shop will be happy and we’ll go on to Texas.”

MIKE FORD, CREW CHIEF No. 11 FEDEX CUP CHEVROLET: “We knew it was going to be a fight. Our best racetrack, this style of racetrack, and this racetrack in particular, I knew it threw us curveballs the first race so we really knew that we were going to have to work on it. We were fortunate enough to be able to pinpoint some things and be able to work on ‘em and get better. I think we could have been better yet if we had more time to work on it. We’re very happy. This is one of the toughest racetracks that we race on and of anything that Denny has the least amount of experience on is this type racetrack with these speeds. Some of this is just going to take time and to come out of here with a top-10, we’re happy with that. It felt like at times we were a little better than eighth but that’s the highest we ran all night. We’re happy with that and keeping things in perspective. To still be able to come out of here moving up in points and be one of the few cars legitimately that has a shot at winning this whole thing, this was a major step for us, as well as next week. Next week is a lot similar to this place. We had a top-five run at Texas our first time so we’re looking forward to going there and maybe apply some of the things that we learned here. So we’re happy with this. We just need to keep our heads down continue to knock out some more top-10s and top-fives.”

    HAMLIN PRESS CONFERENCE

“We can 20th to 30th most of the day and we sucked real bad. I don’t know. I just can’t get a grip on this racetrack. I never have. I don’t know if I will in the foreseeable future. It’s not all car, obviously, because Tony won the race. I’ve got to work on it myself around this place but we got the Lucky Dog one of those times and we were fortunate to miss that one wreck and took two tires at the end and got us a top-10. It’s pretty lucky.”
