Burton returning to hometown to attend special dedication ceremony
South Boston, Va., native and driver of the No. 31 Cingular Wireless Chevrolet Jeff Burton is returning to his hometown for a special event to celebrate Cingular’s network expansion in Virginia and to help give back to aspiring young drivers in the local community. Cingular has expanded its wireless coverage in western Virginia, including the addition of eight new cell towers in the South Boston/Danville area, and Burton will be on site to commemorate the event with an official dedication ceremony at South Boston Speedway, where he first honed is driving skills.
To mark this momentous occasion, Cingular is officially dedicating its Tuck Air cell tower – just outside South Boston Speedway – in honor of the 18-time Cup Series winner and 2006 Chase for the Cup participant. The dedication will be highlighted by a TEAM Cingular flag-raising on the new cell tower. Cingular will also make a scholarship donation to the Halifax County Public Schools Motorsports Academy to help facilitate motorsports opportunities for “future Jeff Burtons” in the area.
During the ceremony Burton will share his experiences with kids participating in the Motorsports Academy and present a scholarship check on behalf of Cingular. The No. 31 Cingular Wireless Chevrolet will also be on-site and provide excellent photograph opportunities.
