Todd Kluever

CONCORD, N.C. – Todd Kluever will be attempting his fifth NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series start this weekend in the Checker Auto Parts 500 at Phoenix International Raceway. Kluever will compete in both the NEXTEL Cup and Busch Series races in his No. 06 3M/Sharp AQUOS Ford Fusion.

Kluever’s four previous starts have been at Chicagoland, Michigan, Kansas and Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Phoenix is scheduled to be his final Cup start of the 2006 season.

“I’ve enjoyed running these Cup races this year,” Kluever said. “I wish we could have finished better, but I have learned more with every race. Being able to race in the NEXTEL Cup and Busch Series in the same weekend is a huge bonus for me. Having twice as much track time helps me in both races.

“This weekend we are taking a Cup car to Phoenix that is new to us. It is one of Mark Martin’s former cars so it’s seen plenty of races, just not as the No. 06. Frank Stoddard and the guys have worked really hard on this car and I hope to have a solid run with it. Phoenix is a tough track because it is so flat and has such a unique shape. It’s a challenge to find the right set-up to get around the entire track, but I feel confident we’ll get it figured out.”
