Labonte, Raines React to Aikman's Selection to Hall of Fame

CORNELIUS, N.C., Saturday, Feb. 4, 2005 – Troy Aikman, co-owner of Hall of Fame Racing and the No. 96 DLP®HDTV Chevrolet in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series, was voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Feb. 4. He will be inducted later this year.

Aikman will join fellow Hall of Fame Racing owner Roger Staubach, who was inducted in 1985.

The following are statements from Terry Labonte and Tony Raines, co-drivers of the No. 96 DLP®HDTV Chevrolet about today’s announcement.

TERRY LABONTE (No. 96 DLP®HDTV Chevrolet):

“It’s exciting for sure. I know it was well-deserved considering all the success he had with the Cowboys. I think we all kind of figured he’d get in. It’s a great honor for him, and I know Tony (Raines) and I are thrilled for him, as are all the people at DLP and Hall of Fame Racing. I’ve been a Cowboys fan all my life and followed both Roger and Troy throughout their careers. I’m happy for Troy; it’s a tremendous honor.

TONY RAINES (No. 96 DLP®HDTV Chevrolet):

“I’m very happy for Troy. This is great news for everyone at Hall of Fame Racing and DLP, especially heading into the beginning of our first season. Troy had a great career in the NFL with the Cowboys and, hopefully, we can give him a great first year in NASCAR. I think we all thought he had a pretty good chance at getting in this year, so it’s a honor to drive ‘officially’ for two Hall of Famers.”
