Mike Bliss/NetZero Best Buy Racing Watkins Glen Fast Facts
Mike Bliss, driver of the NetZero Best Buy Chevrolet, will make his 57th NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series start when the green flag drops for the Sirius Satellite Radio at the Glen at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International Sunday.
BLISS ON WATKINS GLEN… “The past two races have been really great for this NetZero Best Buy Racing team. Everything has really started to come together. The pit crew has been great, we’ve been strong right off the truck and we’ve stayed out of trouble and been able to race our way to the front. Bootie has been making some strong calls in the pits and we’re just really excited with the way things have gone. We’ve been working really hard all year and now it’s paying off. The biggest difference we’ve seen in the past couple of weeks is just that nothing unfortunate has happened on the track and we’ve been around at the end and able to race our way to a good finish. As far as Watkins Glen goes, I think it will be a good weekend. I like the track and I’ve been there a bunch of times. It’s been a couple of years, but I’m looking forward to going back there, especially as well as this Haas CNC Racing team has been running lately.”
WATKINS GLEN NOTES OF INTEREST –
The Haas CNC Racing team will utilize chassis 014 for the running of the Sirius Satellite Radio at the Glen. This is the same car the team ran at Infineon Raceway earlier this season.
Bliss has made one NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series start on the 2.45-mile road course. He has also made one Busch Series and four Truck Series starts. During his Truck Series career Bliss qualified in the Top 15 four times and posted two Top-10 finishes including a runner up performance in 1997.
The NetZero Best Buy Team picked up three spots in the point standings after last week’s event at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The team now stands only 46 points out of the Top 25. Following two Top-11 finishes in a row, the team has picked up four spots in the standings in just two weeks.
