Mike Bliss, driver of the NetZero Best Buy Chevrolet, will make his 44th NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series start when the green flag drops for the Aaron's 499 at Talladega Superspeedway this Sunday.
BLISS ON TALLADEGA... "We had a pretty good car in Daytona, but ran into a couple of problems on the track during that race, so we think we've got a good shot at having another good run in Talladega. The Superspeedway program at Haas CNC Racing has always been a strong point, especially with our Hendrick Engines, and Bootie and the guys back at the shop are working really hard to make it even better this year. It's just a matter of making the right decisions in the draft and staying out of trouble at Talladega, and hopefully we can do that. I raced the Busch car there last year, but it's been a while since I ran in the Cup Series, so we'll see what we can do once we get there. I know we can count on the car and the motor to be strong, so we feel pretty good heading into the weekend.
"We need a good run this weekend for sure. We finished 20th last week in the NetZero Best Buy Chevrolet and still fell two spots in the standings, which is disheartening to say the least. Luckily, right now everyone in mid-pack range in the standings is really close together, so we need to keep working hard to get some Top-15 finishes and hopefully we'll be able to get back to where we were earlier in the season."
TALLADEGA NOTES OF INTEREST
The Haas CNC Racing team will utilize chassis 018 for the running of the Aaron's 499 at Talladega Superspeedway. This is the same car the team ran in the season-opener at Daytona International Speedway and is new this season. Bliss drove this car to an 18th-place finish in Daytona despite a spin on the frontstretch during the race.
Mike Bliss has made two NASCAR NEXTEL Cup starts in Talladega, qualifying as high as 18th and finishing as high as ninth.
Following the race in Talladega, the team will spend Tuesday and Wednesday testing at Lowe's Motor Speedway in preparation for the upcoming event there.
