Dickies 500 - Kyle Busch Notes

KYLE BUSCH NOTES & QUOTES

CARQUEST PAINT IN THE LONE-STAR STATE:
The red, white and blue shield of CARQUEST Auto Parts will adorn Kyle Busch’s No. 5 Chevrolet this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. Sunday will mark the final appearance of the CARQUEST paint scheme in 2005.

NEXT WIN WILL BE 140TH FOR HENDRICK:
Jeff Gordon’s first-place finish Oct. 23 at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway gave Rick Hendrick his 139th Cup-level victory, tying him with legendary team owner Junior Johnson for second on NASCAR’s all-time list (1949-present). Hendrick, who leads all Cup owners in modern-era wins (1972-present), now trails only Petty Enterprises overall.

TEXAS TRIPLE FOR KYLE BUSCH:
Along with his customary NEXTEL Cup No. 5 Chevrolet, Busch this weekend will pilot a No. 57 Hendrick Motorsports Monte Carlo in the NASCAR Busch Series and a No. 15 Billy Ballew Motorsports Silverado in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Texas will mark the fourth “triple duty” weekend of 2005 for the 20-year-old driver, who has won in all three of NASCAR’s premier divisions this season.

BUSCH SIGNING AUTOGRAPHS AT TEXAS:
Busch will greet fans and sign autographs on Sunday at the Kellogg’s Racing souvenir rig outside Texas Motor Speedway beginning at 10:10 a.m. local time. Tickets will be distributed Sunday morning when the track opens.

KYLE BUSCH, DRIVER OF THE NO. 5 CARQUEST CHEVROLETS:
(ON RACING AT TEXAS THIS WEEKEND.) “We were decent at Texas in the spring until we got caught up in an early wreck and we just had a bad day from there. We then tried to salvage the day and ended up getting squeezed in the wall. Going back, I think we can have a better run implementing all the things we’ve learned this year with the shock package and the springs we’re able to run. We tested at Texas for two days because I haven’t been able to get a grasp on the track itself. It hasn’t been too good to me as I’ve had some bad wrecks there in both the Cup and Busch cars. It’s a tough place for me and I’m not quite sure why because I run well at Lowe’s and Atlanta. All in all, we had a good test and hope to have as good of a car as we did last weekend in Atlanta.”

ALAN GUSTAFSON, CREW CHIEF OF THE NO. 5 CARQUEST CHEVROLETS:
(ON TEXAS.) “We’re taking the same car to Texas that ran at Indy and Kansas. The test went well and we think Kyle running all three series this weekend will help us figure out what might work and what might not work on Sunday.”
