Crew Chief: Jimmy Fennig
Chassis: #71 (tested at Texas on Oct. 25, finished 18th at Indy)
Busch on racing at Texas Motor Speedway:
“I know that at first glance this track looks a lot like Atlanta and Charlotte, but for the drivers it’s a completely different scenario than what you have at the other mile and a half tri-ovals. Texas is very fast and smooth with a lot of grip in the corners. Over the years the racing surface has developed nicely, and the second groove should work its way in over the weekend.”
Crew Chief Jimmy Fennig on racing at Texas Motor Speedway:
“We’re bringing our Indy car that we tested here last week. We’ve run pretty well there the past couple of trips, and we need a good finish this weekend too for our Crown Royal team in our last weekend in the purple.”
Fast Facts
Tire trouble for the No. 97 in the early stages of last week’s race at Atlanta resulted in a 36th place finish. Kurt Busch dropped to ninth in the standings with the finish, 260 points behind leader Tony Stewart.
The No. 97 brings the purple and gold of Crown Royal to Texas on chassis #71. The team tested this car at Texas on Oct. 25. Busch finished 18th at Indianapolis in August with this car in its only previous start. This weekend’s race will be the final Crown Royal paint scheme for 2005.
Busch has four top-fives in five starts at Texas. His best finish (fourth) came during 2001.
