No. 40 TEAM FACTS:

  • “Deep in the Heart of Texas”: Sterling Marlin will make his ninth start this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. Last year he grabbed his best starting spot at Texas, 14th. Marlin was running in the top-five when on lap 129 he hit the wall in turn two. Marlin eventually took the checkered flag in the 26th position.
  • Chassis: The Coors Light team will race chassis #401 at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend. This chassis brought home a 15th and 35th place finish at Fontana and Las Vegas respectively. This is also the same chassis that the Coors Light crew took to test at Texas Motor Speedway in March.
  • “These Boots Are Made for Walking”: Marlin will be making an appearance on behalf of Justin Boots at Academy Sports and Outdoors store in Grapevine, Tex. on Friday night from 6;30-8:30 p.m.
  • The Best at Texas: Marlin’s best starting spot at Texas is 14th which is where he started in last spring’s race. His best finish is seventh in 2002.
  • Best Finish of 2005: Marlin got his best finish of the 2005 season last weekend at Martinsville Speedway. After leading for six laps Marlin was able to bring home a sixth-place finish. His sixth place finish was his 100th top-10 finish of his NEXTEL Cup career.
  • NASCAR NEXTEL Cup points standings: Marlin’s sixth-place finish elevated him one spot to 12th in the points standings, just nine points out of the top-10 and 254 points out of the top spot.
