Chevy Rock & Roll 400 - Mike Bliss Notes

Mike Bliss/NetZero Best Buy Racing Richmond Fast Facts

Mike Bliss, driver of the NetZero Best Buy Chevrolet, will make his 61st NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series start when the green flag drops for the Chevy Rock & Roll 400 at Richmond International Raceway Saturday.

BLISS ON RICHMOND… “We’re looking forward to getting back to a short track this weekend. We had a pretty good run in Bristol and we struggled a bit last week in Fontana, so we welcome the trip to RIR. We’re taking the same car we had in Martinsville, which was probably headed toward a Top-10 finish if we hadn’t run into a problem with the engine, and it wasn’t bad in the first Richmond race either, so we think we’ll be pretty strong off the truck. I like Richmond - I don’t know any driver that doesn’t – it’s a smooth, wide, fast track and it lends itself to some pretty good racing. Hopefully we’ll do a little better job of avoiding other people’s problems this time around. Everything happens so fast and the whole team - from me to the crew chief to the spotter - has to really be on our toes to make sure you get out of there in one piece. We’re looking forward to getting there and redeeming ourselves after a bit of a disappointing race last weekend as well.”

RICHMOND NOTES OF INTEREST

  • The Haas CNC Racing team will utilize chassis 010 for the running of the Chevy Rock & Roll 400. This is the same car Bliss drove in the first event in Richmond as well as at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway earlier this season.
  • Bliss has competed on the .75–mile Richmond track three times in a NEXTEL Cup car and in 2004 scored his highest finish to date there. He has also raced in both Busch Series and Truck Series events at the track and has posted a total of six Top-10 finishes.
  • Bliss ran into trouble late in the race during the first Richmond event when he hit oil on the track from a competitor’s blown engine with 23 laps to go and hit the wall, resulting in a 37th-place finish for the team.
  • Bliss will be doing double duty once again this weekend, racing in the Craftsman Truck Series event in the No. 06 Dodge Thursday evening.
