    S. Wimmer on heading to Richmond International Raceway:
“It’s weird to think we’re already 11 races into the season, and heading to one of my favorite tracks on the NASCAR schedule. I really like racing at Richmond and I like all of these night races we’re running this year. Night racing is just a whole lot of fun. The only part I don’t like is the time you spend waiting for things to get started during the day, but I prefer night racing. It is more comfortable for the fans, drivers, the crews and everyone involved. We still need some Sunday racing, but racing on Saturdays is really neat and it’s what we grew up doing. It is good for the sport. We get some prime time on TV, and I know the biggest perk for a lot of the team members is getting to be home on Sundays with their families and friends.

“It’s also nice to get back to some short track racing. I had some rough luck last year at Richmond. Both times, we had real good cars, but unfortunate circumstances took us out of contention. That has been the story so far this year, too, when it comes to short tracks. We had a good car in Bristol and then dropped the radiator. Then, we didn’t get to see what we had at Martinsville because our nose got smashed in on the first lap and all of our belts fell off. Needless to say, I am hoping this weekend will be the charm for us and we can see what our short track program really has to offer.

“The CAT Racing team is heading into this weekend on a more positive note than we have in the last few weeks. We finished the race at Darlington and that got us back inside the top 35. We didn’t have the best car, but we got the job done. I think what happened at Darlington was we weren’t real satisfied with our race trim during practice, but had to switch over pretty fast to qualifying trim to make sure we would make it to Saturday night. Fortunately, we made the race, finished it, and got a hold of a better position in the points. Now, we are moving in the direction we want to be moving.”
