Chevy American Revolution 400 - Mike Bliss Notes

Mike Bliss, driver of the NetZero Best Buy Chevrolet, will make his 46th NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series start when the green flag drops for the Chevy American Revolution 400 at Richmond International Raceway Saturday night.

BLISS ON RICHMOND... "I've always liked racing at Richmond. It's always been a fun track to race on and since they repaved it, it's smooth and fast too, so that makes it even better. We did a decent job making the NetZero Best Buy Chevrolet better as the sun went down and the track got cooler last week at Darlington and we'll have to do the same thing this weekend. The only difference is that we've been racing at night in Richmond for a while now so we know more of what to expect throughout the evening. I've got my best Cup Series finish here - a fourth last year in the fall race - so I'm looking forward to getting back there and seeing if we can't do the same thing with this team. We were able to pick up a couple of spots in the point standings last week and we need to keep doing more of the same by consistently finishing in the Top 20 and Top 15. We were a bit disappointed with 19th last week in Darlington even though it was pretty good considering all we went through, but it's nice to be disappointed about a Top 20. The guys know we are capable of more than that and we're going to do everything we can to get back into the Top-20 in points. Richmond is another place where you have to remain patient, keep a cool head, run mistake free and hope you don't get caught up in anybody else's problems. Of course it's the same anywhere, but you have a little less time to react at a short track like this one."

RICHMOND NOTES OF INTEREST-

  • The Haas CNC Racing team will utilize chassis 010 for the running of the Chevy American Revolution 400 at Richmond International Raceway. This is the same car the team ran earlier this season at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway, where a promising run was cut short with overheating problems.
  • Mike Bliss has made two NASCAR NEXTEL Cup starts in Richmond. Bliss also has four Busch Series and six Truck Series starts on the .75-mile oval. In a total of 12 events he has run at the track Bliss has earned six Top-10 finishes.
  • Bliss scored his career high NEXTEL Cup finish last season during the fall event at RIR when he drove the No. 80 Chevrolet to a fourth-place finish.
  • Bliss spent Tuesday kicking off the NEXTEL All-Star Trophy Tour in Raleigh, N.C. Bliss met with North Carolina Governor Mike Easley and then participated in a ceremony at Bicentennial Mall with several other figures from NASCAR's past and present.
