Kurt Busch on racing at Pocono:
“Pocono is definitely one of the most unique tracks we’ll be visiting this year with the configuration of the track. It’s basically a road course in the shape of an oval. We’ve run well at this facility the last couple of years, and had some trouble at the end. A couple years ago we were running well and hit some debris and got into the wall, and last year we had a transmission failure while running in the top 10 towards the end of the race, so some of our results here haven’t been what they should have been. But we feel good about our car this weekend and want to continue getting the top 10’s we need to stay up in the points.”
Crew Chief Jimmy Fennig on racing at Pocono:
“We’re on track right now with where we want to be. We had a good run at Dover last weekend which hasn’t always been our best track, and now we’re heading to Pocono where we’ve run pretty good in the past. So we’re just looking for another good run in this Sharpie Ford.”
Fast Facts
Kurt Busch moved to eighth in points following his seventh top-10 of the season at Dover last week, and remains in the top 10 NEXTEL Cup Series competition for the 48th consecutive race week (since Rockingham 2004), currently the longest streak on the circuit.
Busch’s No. 97 Ford Taurus sports the black and red of Sharpie for this weekend’s race.
Busch’s career at Pocono International Raceway has been primarily feast or famine. In eight races at the speedway he has finished in the top five three times (including two runner-up finishes), but 36th or lower three times.
