Pocono 500 - Carl Edwards Notes

Carl Edwards Pocono Raceway Advance
Pocono Raceway, June 12, 2005
NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series: Pocono 500, Sunday at 1:40 pm (ET)

Carl Edwards Team: No.99 Roush Racing Ford Taurus
Crew Chief: Bob Osborne
Chassis: RK-270 (Won at Atlanta earlier this season)

Carl Edwards on racing at Pocono:
"I'm excited to go to Pocono. This will be my first time at the track and I know I have a lot to learn but I've been watching tapes and talking to my teammates so I'm hoping to have a bit of a head start. This is the first weekend I'll be traveling between the Busch and Cup Series so I'm looking forward to that too. It would be awesome to give Charter a good run in Nashville then follow that up with a strong run in Pocono for Stonebridge Life Insurance. I think we are capable of that. As long as the rain stays away in Pocono and we get our practice sessions in we will be fine."

Crew Chief Bob Osborne on racing at Pocono:
"Pocono is an extremely tough race track for veterans let alone rookies. I was disappointed that the track did not allow test time for rookies but we'll do the best we can with the three practice sessions we have. I think we do have a small advantage with the rule changes. Since no one will be shifting everyone will have a little something new to learn so that helps us a bit but that said we still have a lot to learn. All that said, I think Carl is a great talent and we should be fine, we'll see what happens this week."

Fast Facts

  • This will be Carl Edwards' first career start at Pocono Raceway.

  • This will be Edwards' first double duty weekend in two separate cities. • RK-270 is the same car Edwards won with at Atlanta earlier in 2005.
