Mike Bliss, driver of the NetZero Chevrolet, will make his 70th NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series start when the green flag drops for the Checker Auto Parts 500 at Phoenix International Raceway.

BLISS ON PHOENIX…“The good news is this team really seems to be coming together. The bad news is there are only two races left in the season. We ran into trouble in Charlotte and Martinsville, but the past two races have been pretty good for us and we feel like we should be able to finish off the year where we think we should have been the entire season. Something pretty major would have to happen for us to reach the Top 25 in points, which is where we were hoping to end up, but we’re going to get as close to that spot as we can and a couple of Top- 10 or 15 finishes would go a long way towards that goal.”

PHOENIX NOTES OF INTEREST -

The Haas CNC Racing team will utilize chassis 010 for the running of the Checker Auto Parts 500 this weekend at Phoenix International Raceway. This is the same car Mike Bliss drove in both events at Richmond International Raceway and Martinsville (Va.) Speedway.

Mike Bliss has made three NASCAR NEXTEL Cup starts at PIR, qualifying as high as 15th. In addition, Bliss has competed in two Busch Series events and 10 Truck Series races. Bliss earned the pole position twice in Truck Series competition and in 1998, drove from the pole to victory lane. In all, Bliss has five Top-10 finishes in Truck Series events and qualified outside of the Top 11 on only one occasion. Bliss also enjoyed success at PIR back in his days of racing in the USAC Silver Crown Series.

Bliss is also scheduled to compete in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event on Saturday afternoon in the No. 16 Chevrolet.
