Phoenix International Raceway, April 22-23, 2005
NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series: Subway Fresh 500, Saturday, 7:55 pm (EDT)
Greg Biffle
Team: No. 16 National Guard Ford Taurus
Crew Chief: Doug Richert
Chassis: RK-221 (Same chassis the team raced in Phoenix last year)
Greg Biffle on racing at Phoenix:
“I always look forward to racing at Phoenix for a number of reasons. The track is very technical and it’s almost like an oval road course because of the different corners and dogleg on the backstretch. Phoenix really challenges the driver and those are the tracks that are the most fun. The National Guard team is really strong right now and we just need to keep the momentum going.”
Crew Chief Doug Richert on racing at Phoenix:
“We’re taking chassis No. 221, which is the same chassis we ran in the Phoenix race last year. We have given it a new body for the 2005 season. We decided on this car because it had good aero numbers and we felt good about its performance last year. This weekend is an impound weekend, so we’ll just unload and work on race setup and see what we have.”
Fast Facts
Last year Greg Biffle ran in the top-10 for the first half of the Phoenix race but got on a pit cycle that put him on old tires at the end of the race.
In four Busch Series starts at Phoenix, Biffle has one pole, one win, three top-five finishes and four top-10 finishes.
This weekend the No. 16 National Guard Ford will sport a special yellow and green Subway paint scheme.
