GFS Marketplace 400 - Mike Bliss Notes

Bliss/NetZero Best Buy Racing Michigan Fast Facts

Mike Bliss, driver of the NetZero Best Buy Chevrolet, will make his 58th NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series start when the green flag drops for the GFS Marketplace 400 at Michigan International Speedway Sunday.

BLISS ON MICHIGAN… “The second half of the season has been a lot better than the first half so far and now we’ve got a string of races at tracks we’ve already been to, so I think that will help us even more. We’ve come together well as a team in the last month or so and most importantly, we’ve managed to stay out of trouble and be there at the end. Bootie has really made some good calls in the pits both with changes we’ve needed to make to make the NetZero Best Buy Chevrolet better as the races go on, as well as strategy calls and that has really helped to put us in the position to pick up the Top-15 finishes. We feel good about what we’ve got this weekend; I think we’re starting to prove that we’ve got what it takes to run up front. With our Hendrick engines this team is as strong as anybody and horsepower plays a major role at this track. You never know what can happen in Michigan.”

MICHIGAN NOTES OF INTEREST –

  • The Haas CNC Racing team will utilize chassis 009 for the running of the GFS Marketplace 400. This is the same car the team ran earlier in the season in Michigan. It is also the same car the team ran last season at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
  • Mike Bliss has made three NASCAR NEXTEL Cup starts in Michigan. He has also competed in the Busch Series twice as well as in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series on two occasions. In seven starts at the 2-mile oval, Bliss has two Top-10 finishes.
  • The team will spend Monday following the event at Michigan testing at the Milwaukee Mile. Bliss also spent last Wednesday testing at Kentucky Speedway.
  • Bliss picked up one spot in the driver points standings after last week’s event and now holds down 26th place, 53 points out of the Top 25.
