GFS Marketplace 400 - Kyle Busch Notes

KYLE BUSCH NOTES & QUOTES

A DIFFERENT KIND OF ‘TEST’ FOR KELLOGG’S:
With paint schemes sometimes looking much different on paper than they do on the race track, Kellogg’s has elected to field a potential 2006 car design this weekend at Michigan. A final decision on the ‘06 version of the No. 5 Kellogg’s Chevrolets will be based on how the car looks from the grandstands and on TNT’s television broadcast.

HENDRICK AT MICHIGAN:
Car owner Rick Hendrick has three career NEXTEL Cup victories at Michigan International Speedway. Jeff Gordon owns the two most recent wins (1998 and 2001), while Ricky Rudd holds the other (1993).

AUTOGRAPH SESSION AT MICHIGAN:
Kyle Busch will sign autographs for fans Sunday morning at the Kellogg’s souvenir trailer outside Michigan International Speedway. Tickets will be handed out that morning on a first come, first served basis for the 11 a.m. ET appearance.

‘BUMMY’ RETURNS:
Mike “Bummy” Bumgarner is back with the No. 5 Kellogg’s team to change rear tires on race day. Bumgarner was a longtime member of the No. 5 crew before joining Terry Labonte’s part-time NEXTEL Cup effort as car chief of the No. 44 Chevrolets.

‘5’ GOING WITH CHASSIS 344 AT MIS:
Kellogg’s Racing will field Hendrick Motorsports Chassis No. 344 in Sunday’s event at Michigan. It was the primary option earlier this season at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway and Atlanta Motor Speedway.

BUSCH TRUCKIN’ AT BRISTOL:
Busch will run a No. 15 ditech.com Chevy Silverado in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event Aug. 24 at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway. Busch, who became the youngest winner in NCTS history earlier this season, will drive for Billy Ballew Motorsports.

SIGNIN’ FOR THE KIDS:
Busch will host his second “Kids Only” autograph session at Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday, Aug. 27 beginning at 4:30 p.m. ET. Tickets will be distributed on a first come, first served basis when the gates open at the track that day.

FAMILY RACE NIGHT:
Busch will sign autographs on behalf of Kellogg’s at the Food City Family Race Night on Thursday, Aug. 26. The event is scheduled from 6-8 p.m. ET on State Street in Bristol, Tenn.

KYLE BUSCH, DRIVER OF THE NO. 5 KELLOGG’S CHEVROLETS:
(ON GOING TO MICHIGAN THIS WEEKEND.) “The car we’re taking to Michigan is excellent. It ran awesome at Darlington until we cut a tire down. I definitely expect some good results. We finished ninth in the first race, but didn’t contend for the win. I think this weekend should be interesting considering the rule change and the tire troubles so many teams had during the last race. We’re going there hoping to improve on the ninth-place run from last time.”

BUSCH:
(ON WATKINS GLEN.) “Last weekend at Watkins Glen we didn’t have much luck. Sure, it’s frustrating for a driver to run solid and then mess up at the finish, but we can’t let ourselves get down. One of these races things will click, and when they do we’re going to be in the Winner’s Circle.”

ALAN GUSTAFSON, CREW CHIEF OF THE NO. 5 KELLOGG’S CHEVROLETS:
(ON THE NEW CAMBER RULE.) “I don’t think we’re going to have any problems with the camber rule going into effect this weekend at Michigan. We never run ours that high (eight degrees), but I think it will affect some of the competition. They (NASCAR) just want to ensure the safety of the drivers.”
