JEREMY MAYFIELD QUOTES
“There’s one good thing about a 600-mile race, it gives you time when you’re off a little bit on your car to get it fixed. If all of the races we had were 600-mile races, we would have had a pretty good season so far because we seem to get our cars fixed near the end of the race where they’re running competitively.
”I don’t mind the Charlotte night race because it starts later. It’s not like starting in the afternoon and running just as it starts to get dark. We actually race at night at Charlotte. I don’t like the twilight races because of the sun and because it’s really not a night race. Charlotte really is a night race. I like it.”
On the new Dodge Charger, new tire compound, new spoiler rules…
“Every week we go to the racetrack we’re getting better and better. We roll off the truck good, we show up great, we practice and qualify good. For some reason, we’re missing something in the race. We start off pretty good, then the car doesn’t react the way we thought it would with the first change that we make. So, we have to play catch-up during part of the race and sometimes even during the rest of the day. We’ve got to get better at that – figuring out what the track wants and setting the car up to work under those conditions. We’re starting to understand what’s going on, but we just have to continue to work on it. Overall, we’re going to be fine. The good thing about it is we haven’t started running good yet and we’re still close to the top 10. We just need to get better. Getting into the Chase is our goal just like it is any other team out here each week. Now it’s time for us to make a move within these last 16 races.”
