Banquet 400 presented by ConAgra Foods - Mike Bliss Notes

Mike Bliss/NetZero Best Buy Racing Kansas Fast Facts

Mike Bliss, driver of the NetZero Best Buy Chevrolet, will make his 65th NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series start when the green flag drops for the Banquet 400 at Kansas Speedway.

BLISS ON KANSAS… “Kansas is a relatively new track and is still pretty tough to pass on, so track position will be really important. Obviously that’s the case at most of the places we visit and this weekend won’t be any different. The crew chiefs have really had their work cut out for them making two tire and four tire calls and basically deciding if tires are more important than track position at different points during the races. Bootie has really done a nice job making those calls as the season has progressed. I don’t remember very many times when we have second-guessed the decision we made. That said, the most important thing to us this week is finishing the race. We’ve had a miserable couple of weeks and we need to turn it around. We’re still gunning for a Top-25 finish in the points and there was a time when we could easily see ourselves even higher than that, but these last couple of weeks have just been brutal for us and there are a lot of teams aiming for that 25th spot. We’re doing everything we can to get back there. We’ve done a better job in the last couple of weeks of being strong off the truck and that was an area we needed to work on, so I know we are going in the right direction with this team, we just seem to be having a hard time going in the right direction in the point standings. We’re hoping this will be the weekend we can get back to finishing where we belong.”

KANSAS NOTES OF INTEREST

  • The Haas CNC Racing team will utilize chassis 009 for the running of the Banquet 400 this weekend at Kansas Speedway. This is the same car Mike Bliss drove in both events at Michigan International Speedway this season. Bliss qualified sixth in the most recent event at MIS with this NetZero Best Buy Chevrolet.
  • Though Bliss has not made any NASCAR NEXTEL Cup starts in Kansas he does have two Busch Series starts at the 1.5-mile tri-oval. He also won the Craftsman Truck Series event there in 2002. Bliss has never started outside the Top eight on this track.
  • For the past two weeks the Haas CNC Racing entry has carried the colors and logo of Best Buy on its hood, but this weekend in Kansas NetZero returns to serve as co-primary sponsor with Best Buy on the No. 0 Chevrolet.
