Mike Bliss/NetZero Best Buy Racing Infineon Fast Facts
Mike Bliss, driver of the NetZero Best Buy Chevrolet, will make his 51st NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series start when the green flag drops for the Dodge/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway Sunday.
BLISS ON INFINEON RACEWAY."I haven't been to Infineon in a while and I know they changed the course some since I was there last, so the first practice will be really important for me as far as getting a feel for the track goes. Luckily, it's not an impound race and we'll have plenty of time to work on qualifying and then more time Saturday to work on our race setup, which will give me a lot of time to get used to the course and figure out the best way to get around it now.
"I'm looking forward to getting there. I think road courses are important to Series and this race pays as many points as all the others, so you have to spend just as much time preparing for this race as any other. I know there are almost 50 cars entered right now and there will be some really good road course ringers there who have to get in on time, so that first practice should be interesting. Our goal this week for the NetZero Best Buy Racing team is to have a good solid weekend, get a decent starting spot and stay out of trouble during the race. That's pretty much our goal every weekend, but somehow things just seem different when you get to the road courses. You just never know what might happen."
INFINEON RACEWAY NOTES OF INTEREST -
The Haas CNC Racing team will utilize chassis 014 for the running of the Dodge/Save Mart 350 at Infineon (Sonoma, Calif.) Raceway. This is the same Chevrolet the team utilized last season at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International.
Though Mike Bliss has made only one NASCAR NEXTEL Cup start in Sonoma, he has plenty of experience on the 1.99-mile road course. Bliss ran four races at Infineon Raceway in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series between 1995 and 1998. In those events, Bliss never started outside the Top 15. Bliss has earned three Top-10 finishes including a runner-up finish in 1998.
