Allstate 400 at the Brickyard - Mike Bliss Notes

Mike Bliss/NetZero Best Buy Racing Indy Fast Facts

Mike Bliss, driver of the NetZero Best Buy Chevrolet, will make his 56th NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series start when the green flag drops for the Allstate 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway Sunday.

BLISS ON INDY… “We’re hoping that the fact that we didn’t test at Indy doesn’t put us behind the eight ball in the first practice session. Indianapolis, like any other track, I guess, is a track that can be a lot of fun to race on if you’ve got a good car. The field tends to get kind of spread out throughout the course of the race so there’s a lot of biding your time until you get the chance to make something happen. I’m not going to say it’s my favorite place to race, but there again, of you’ve got a great handling car with a ton of horsepower that you can do something with, it could become a track I could really like in a hurry. Like last week proved, you’ve gotta keep adjusting on the car if you need to and put yourself in the position to be up front and you never know what you might get out of it. A couple more finishes like we had last week and you never know what could happen. The Top 25 in points don’t seem so far off anymore.”

INDY NOTES OF INTEREST –

  • The Haas CNC Racing team will utilize chassis 003 for the running of the Allstate 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This car has not been run thus far in the 2005 season.

  • Bliss has made one NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series start on the 2.5-mile oval, finishing 31st after qualifying 34th. He has also competed in one IROC race at the famed Speedway.

  • Bliss and the NetZero Best Buy Racing team scored their best finish of the 2005 season two weeks ago at Pocono (Penn.) Raceway when they took the checkered flag in ninth place. The Top-10 finish also matched Haas CNC Racing’s best finish since its inception.

  • The NetZero Best Buy Team picked up one spot in the point standings after the last event. The team now stands only 52 points out of the Top 25.
