CHASSIS 270 FOR ‘5’:

HENDRICK HOPING FOR DAYTONA REPEAT:

BUSCH BATTING FOR CHARITY:
Busch will participate in the July 7 “Racin’ the Bases” charity softball game at Silver Cross Field in Joliet, Ill. The NEXTEL Cup rookie will sign autographs from 4:30-5 p.m. CT prior to the 6 p.m. celebrity game benefiting the Victory Junction Gang Camp.

KIDS-ONLY AUTOGRAPH SESSION AT CHICAGOLAND:
Busch will sign autographs at the No. 5 Kellogg’s Racing souvenir trailer at Chicagoland Speedway on Sunday, July 10 beginning at 11 a.m. CT. A limit of 100 tickets will be distributed at the trailer that morning for children ages 17 and under. Parents will be able to accompany their child and take photographs. The tickets will be handed out on a first come, first served basis.

MORE CHICAGO SIGNING:
In advance of the NEXTEL Cup event at Chicagoland Speedway, Busch will greet fans and sign autographs on Thursday, July 7 from 12-2 p.m. CT at Jewel Grocery in Joliet, Ill. The store is at 1401 Jefferson Street.

KYLE BUSCH, DRIVER OF THE NO. 5 KELLOGG’S/CHEEZ-IT CHEVROLETS:
(ON DAYTONA.) “Racing at Daytona is great for the fans, but a nail-biter for the drivers and crews. So far this season, I think I’ve finished about half the laps I should have on restrictor-plate tracks. Between the Busch and the Cup cars, it’s been a hard year. In the Daytona 500 we were just cruising along and got behind a wreck. We had damage, fixed it the best we could and rode around some more. We thought we learned our lesson because in Talladega we took a backseat to all the fun racing going on, and when we finally decided to make our move and get in the game, the ‘big one’ happens and takes us out.

“I just hope that we can make it through Daytona without tearing up too much stuff because we’re excited for some of these tracks coming up like Chicagoland, Pocono and Loudon (N.H.). Hendrick Motorsports always runs well on restrictor-plate tracks, as you saw from Jeff (Gordon) and Jimmie (Johnson) dominating Speedweeks in February, and then Jeff winning at Talladega. We are hoping to add the No. 5 and the No. 25 (Vickers) to that mix as well.”

ALAN GUSTAFSON, CREW CHIEF OF THE NO. 5 KELLOGG’S/CHEEZ-IT CHEVROLETS:
(ON MAKING “THE CHASE.”) “It was unfortunate we didn’t get a chance to finish out at Infineon. We had a good car from the get-go and just had a mechanical issue. I know it happens and, believe me, it didn’t hurt momentum a single bit. Once the Kellogg’s team gets through Daytona, watch out, because we’re really going to shine at some of the tracks coming up as we make our way through the summer. We have our eyes on making that Chase for the Championship.”
