Greg Biffle:
“I'm taking my Bud Shootout car there, so anybody that saw the Bud Shootout race, I mean, it was a really good race car. We're ready to go back. We like going to Daytona. It's a big place with a lot happening there with it being the Fourth of July and everything so we're ready."
“We wanted to lead the points. Even if I only lead it for a week, I wanted to be the point leader. This team has worked really hard towards being the points leader. We've had two or three bad races and we've been able to bounce back from them. I can't be happier for the team. They've worked hard to be the point leader and here we are."
Crew Chief Doug Richert:
“We feel pretty good about going back to Daytona. We’re taking the same car that we ran in the Bud Shootout and we led several laps in it before getting caught up in the pits late in the race. But the car ran well and it was a night race too, so we feel pretty confident with what we’re taking.”
“You know, the goal for the whole year is to lead the points. We’ve had a good season and only a couple of bad races. With the five wins so far, we just wanted to get up there and lead the points for a while. We didn’t have our best finish last weekend but we came from the back and got a solid finish. It’s a good feeling to be leading the points and we’re going to do everything we can to hold onto it.”
Notes:
With his 14th place finish at Infineon, Biffle took the lead in the point standings. He now holds a 22-point advantage over Jimmie Johnson.
Biffle led eight laps at Infineon for a grand total of 961 laps led so far this season in 12 of the 15 races.
In addition to his Nextel Cup stats at Daytona, Biffle has two top-five and three top-10 finishes in the NASCAR Busch Series.
Biffle will be returning to Vancouver, WA following Saturday night’s race and will make his first public appearance there in nearly six years. He will be signing autographs at Westlie Ford and Mercury in Camas, WA, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6th.
