No. 40 TEAM FACTS:
Chassis: The Coors Light team will race chassis #114 this weekend for the second race at California Speedway. Sterling Marlin raced this car to a 21st-place finish at Michigan earlier this season. Marlin’s teammate Casey Mears has driven the car twice this season at Atlanta and Pocono.
Racing at California: In 10 starts at California Speedway, Marlin has three top-10 and five top-15 finishes. His highest starting spot is eighth in 2004.
Tennessee Pride: Marlin’s favorite college football team the Tennessee Volunteers will open its 2005 season this Saturday against the UAB Blazers at home in Knoxville. The Volunteers finished 10-3 last season and won the Cotton Bowl at the conclusion of last season.
NASCAR NEXTEL Cup points standings: Marlin dropped two spots to 29th in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup points standings. The No. 40 Dodge, however, is 25th in owner points.
