Kirby Seeks Gold in California
(Mooresville, NC) The Marathon Chevy travels to Fontana, California this
weekend for the Sony HD 500. Crew Chief Walter Giles believes the team has
turned the corner and expects the best results this weekend in Fontana.
"Our team has a real positive attitude right now and with the new faces in
the shop, our overall team experience has tripled."
Stuart Kirby is really pumped up for this weekend's race. "Walter and the
guys have been preparing great cars that I can drive, and the seat time is
invaluable. Our lap times during the race at MIS were as fast as anybody.
If we can start clicking off top 20s the rest of this year, the team and I
think we can have a run at the Chase in 2006."
Competitive Edge Motorsports (#51) plans to compete at least seven more
times in 2005. On the list are Fontana, Loudon, Kansas, Lowes, Atlanta,
Texas and Homestead. Owner Joe Auer feels this is an adequate pace for the
size of our team. "Racing every other weekend is a pace we can handle right
now. Next year, we plan to build the team for a full season of
competition."
