USG Sheetrock 400 - Kyle Busch Notes

KYLE BUSCH NOTES & QUOTES

NOTES & QUOTES

BUSCH LANDS DOUBLE AT CHICAGO:
Kyle Busch will pilot a No. 5 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports in Saturday’s NASCAR Busch Series race at Chicagoland Speedway. As a Busch Series rookie, Busch led three times for 49 laps before finishing 12th last season at the track. He is the only rookie to ever lead the most laps there.

CNBC’S ‘NASCAR GOLD’ TO PREMIERE MONDAY:
CNBC is set to premiere a one-hour documentary about the sport of NASCAR. Reported by Dylan Ratigan, “NASCAR Gold” will feature numerous industry personalities, including the France family and team owner Rick Hendrick. The program will air Monday, July 11 at 8 and 11 p.m. ET.

E! TRUE HOLLYWOOD STORY TO AIR JULY 10:
Busch participated in the filming of a NASCAR-focused episode of the famous “E! True Hollywood Story.” Check local listings for the documentary, which hits the airwaves July 10.

HENDRICK AT CHICAGOLAND:
Although Hendrick Motorsports has never won a Cup Series event in the four-race history of Chicagoland Speedway, teammates Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon own the two best average results at the track. With a third-place average, Johnson has never finished worse than fourth in three appearances, while Gordon has started all four events with an average performance of 6.7.

‘5’ PREPPING FOR NEW HAMPSHIRE:
Busch and his No. 5 Kellogg’s Racing team will test the Milwaukee Mile in West Allis, Wis., July 11-12 in preparation for the upcoming NEXTEL Cup event at New Hampshire International Speedway.

DON’T MESS WITH SUCCESS:
Kellogg’s Racing crew chief Alan Gustafson has selected Hendrick Motorsports Chassis No. 307 for Sunday’s NEXTEL Cup 400-miler at Chicagoland Speedway. Busch drove the car to a second-place finish in Dover, Del., last month.

BUSCH BUSY ON THURSDAY:
Busch will greet fans and sign autographs Thursday from 12-2 p.m. CT at Jewel Grocery, located at 1401 Jefferson Street in Joliet. Following the appearance, the NEXTEL Cup rookie will participate in the “Racin’ the Bases” charity softball game at Silver Cross Field, where he will sign autographs from 4:30-5 p.m. before the 6 p.m. celebrity contest. The event will benefit the Victory Junction Gang Camp.

JUST FOR THE KIDS:
Busch will sign autographs at the No. 5 Kellogg’s Racing souvenir trailer at Chicagoland Speedway on Sunday beginning at 11 a.m. CT. A limit of 100 tickets will be distributed at the trailer that morning for children ages 17 and under. Parents will be able to accompany their child and take photographs. Tickets will be handed out on a first come, first served basis.

KYLE BUSCH, DRIVER OF THE NO. 5 KELLOGG’S CHEVROLETS:
(ON THE RACING AT DAYTONA.) “Last week at Daytona I had a hard time finding drafting partners. It was frustrating, but that’s why I have the rookie stripe across the back bumper of the Kellogg’s Chevy. I look forward to proving myself throughout the rest of the year and making a little noise. Hopefully, I will have earned my stripes by the Chase.”

BUSCH:
(ON UPCOMING RACE TRACKS.) “I’m really excited about the next few race tracks we’re going to. Chicago, New Hampshire and Pocono should all be really good places for us. We aren’t going to let what happened at Infineon and Daytona break our stride. We want to make that Chase and the team still sees that as a viable goal.”

ALAN GUSTAFSON, CREW CHIEF OF THE NO. 5 KELLOGG’S CHEVROLETS:
(ON RACING AT CHICAGOLAND SPEEDWAY.) “We’re taking the car we ran at Dover and Bristol earlier this season to Chicago. The car is really good aerodynamically so we should have a good shot at it this weekend. Kyle generally runs well at tracks like this so if we put a good car under him and add in a little luck, we should be money.”
