Former Daytona 500 Champion Teams with New Sponsor
Year One, a leading supplier of restoration and performance parts for domestic enthusiast vehicles, will be supporting 1990 Daytona 500 champion, Derrike Cope and S.W.A.T. Racing for the 2005 NASCAR Nextel Cup series and the NASCAR Busch series. The agreement includes primary sponsorship on the #55 Chevrolet for Daytona Speedweeks and associate sponsorship for the remainder of the 2005 Nextel Cup season, along with associate sponsorship on the team's 2005 Busch series entry.
“This is obviously big for us and our program,” said Cope, who not only races but owns S.W.A.T. Racing. “Having a company like Year One on board not only helps us in our endeavors but it seems a natural fit giving their business with and relationship to the automotive enthusiast. We have millions of avid race fans that follow NASCAR, many of which consider themselves ‘gear-heads’ who spend a substantial amount of time restoring and upgrading their automobiles. This partnership with Year One seems a great fit and should be beneficial to everyone involved.”
Kevin King, President of Year One, said "We're extremely excited to be associated with Derrike Cope and his efforts for the 2005 Nextel Cup season. The opportunity to become involved with a driver of Derrike's stature at this level of motorsports is unique for a company like ours, and we feel this arrangement is a great way to put the Year One name in front of millions of vehicle enthusiasts and race fans around the country. As a company full of automotive enthusiasts, we share our customer's passion for NASCAR and look forward to working with Derrike and his team throughout the 2005 season."
